B-18/19\, 8134 Mesa Drive (78759)\nFall 2025 registration begins August 13\, 2025 at noon\nRegister via Austin LLI’s website\, https://www.lliaustin.org/courses\n(REGISTER THAT DAY as these classes sell out!)\nThe goal of the class will be to conduct genealogy research for Texas ancestors using national\, state\, county\, and local resources as well as Ancestry and FamilySearch.\nA brief history of Texas and a timeline with the influx of immigrants will be reviewed. We will search for vital records (birth\, marriage\, death\, and burial)\, military service\, education and occupation\, passenger lists and passports\, land grants and tax lists\, censuses and directories\, legal records (wills\, probates\, court records)\, and more. We will learn how to use AI for historical context and historic maps with land grant notations.\nThis class will be on Monday mornings for six weeks and includes instructions and handouts. Bring your information about your ancestor\, with access to the genealogy website you use\, and we will review tips and techniques you might use for finding the evidence you need. \nIn our group setting\, we will review the ancestor and issue. Together we will discuss methods for addressing the particular issue (for the group to log as a technique to be applied to their research). Afterward\, I will work to schedule a 30-minute session\, where we can dig further.
